The Technical Preview was only by invitation only and available to a few people to use and enjoy… etc.

The Office 2010 software is gong to be entering into the Beta2 Phase and will be available for all to download this Friday, tomorrow (Nov 20, 2009).

This beta is supposed to be available for all to download via: here

The Beta 2 edition will require a product key to be entered and activated for the installation/ usage of the Beta 2.

It is being rumored that Microsoft may decide to release the Beta 2 via system that downloads the code as you need it and in the background.

I really like awesome technology stuff and that’s why I blog about it. The only reason I have this blog is just to blog about technology in general.

Search Engines can be really hard to work with [...]]]> This guide, if you will call it that, explains the major ways in which search engines work and how they sort their results and using these ways you may be able to devise a way to improve your website through which you can be a better website.

Search Engines can be really hard to work with sometimes and you really need to know how they work to deal with them in the future and really work in such a way that is beneficial to both the search engine and you together.

In the following I will talk about how credibility affects your search engine’s result ranking.

Search engines use a lot of relative search result arranging a your really need to be aware of a few things when you think that you just got the best content on a particular topic and you are sure that you are going to end up on the top of the search results for that particular term/topic. Well, usually, no. You won’t, unless you have a site that is determined by the search engine to be a credible (trustworthy/reliable) source of information.

Credibility

Credibility comes into play a lot when determining your placement in search engine ranking and is one of the MAIN factors.

Why?

They don’t want to put a site on the results that doesn’t have good content and then have a searchers be mad… etc. They don’t some site with spam content or malware/viruses on it to be on display for visitors to see.

So, now, what determines your credibility?

1. The length of time your website has been up and running.
2. The amount of links your website has TO it. The better the credibility of the site that link to you the more credibility you gain/earn.
3. The quality of the content on your site.
4. The amount of steady visitors your site gets on a regular basis (average of…)

When you think about all these items you may realize how many more sites there are more credible (trustworthy) than your little starting site that is sitting out there in the middle of nowhere. It is really hard, yes really, hard to get in a Search Engine’s top 5-10 results. Why? You are going against so much competition it is really unbelievable. The search engine has so much work to choose the best sites out there to put at the top of the results, and usually there is some awesome site that already gets to the top because it is “better” (more credible/trustworthy) that yours.

*Note: I used the work credible throughout this article because it was the one word that really seemed to fit, it can be substituted by trustworthy or reliability.

Well, [...]]]> One of the best ways to get visitors is via search engines. They are the best source of visitors that are bound to find our website useful to what they are looking for and they may bookmark your website, come back to it, or even recommend your site to others. Awesome isn’t it?

Well, not really; usually it is very hard to get yourself within the top 5-10 results of a where you a visitor will come to your site, but usually your site is way at the bottom of a search and the people who are searching don’t even know that you are in the results and go to another site and never even find out that your site exists.

First Impression, Best Impression

What ever page they come to, probably won’t be the homepage if they’re coming from a search engine, should make a good impression on your visitor. Your website should be CREDIBLE! It shouldn’t have some lame theme that your slopped up in 5 minutes or bought for $0.05. It should be awesome and have an awesome first impact/ impression on your visitor. I cannot tell you simply how many times I have just had to leave a site because of it’s lack of credibility.

Okay, now you want to have a website, get some [...]]]> There are many benefits of keeping your homepage clean. Some of these benefits are obvious while others aren’t, but really and truly have a cleaner, understandable, and straightforward homepage can really benefit you when you are in the battle of getting visitors and SEO-ing your site.

Okay, now you want to have a website, get some (if not lots) of visitors, and get worldwide recognition and fame for all the hard work, effort, and time you just put into your site.

Well what if all that hard work was really hurting you?

Yes, really some of the effort you put into site can really work against you and give your own site a lower PR (pagerank), a last place on search engine results, and a can lead to many of your visitors leaving your site to never come back again. [Drum Roll of Doom Here, Please]

Reason for the need of a Clean Homepage

You should have a clean front/home page so that people can find what they want to find immediately and/or get the gist of your website in seconds (if not less). I personally won’t stay on a site of more than 15-30 secs if I cannot find what the meaning of the site.

You should not make your visitors go on a wild goose hunt to look for some information that they are looking for, whether it be the purpose of your site or some piece of information they are looking for.

I good example of an unclean homepage is one that has weird aliens for floating cursors trailers, has animated gifs all over the place (because they look cool, right?), and a wild disarray of flash/applets for no particular reason which all get into the way of giving the user a productive, fun, entertaining, and quick way of getting information.

If your site looks anything like the one mentioned above, then you have major fail on your hands there…

If a person leaves your website thinking that you website has no content or value then it is likely that they WON’T return … EVER!!

Making a Clean Homepage

Kind of self-explanatory, but get rid of the clutter, the mess, and the unneeded.

Nothing should on your page without a clear concise purpose. Your visitor shouldn’t have to spend hours trying to figure out the meaning of something.

The main reason why you should integrate a service pack to the OS is to avoid the hassle later, especially if it’s multiple installs (on different computers). I would say some people also do it to avoid vulnerability to viruses…

Here’s how to do it:

There are two ways to integrate a service pack into a Microsoft Windows Install…

1. Manually (Harder)
   1. Insert XP CD into Drive
   2. Open My Computer
      1. 
   1. Right Click on Icon of CD Drive and Click Explore
      1. 
   1. In the following window that comes up:
      1. Hit Ctrl-A
      2. OR select all items that appear in that window.
   1. Right-Click and Hit Copy
      1. OR hit Ctrl-C
   1. Make a Work Folder (call it whatever you want to ) somewhere on your computer.
   2. Paste stuff you just copied into the work folder.
   3. Download the Service Pack you want to Integrate and SAVE (not run) it on your computer.
   4. Rename the downloaded file to something like: XPSP2 or VistaSP1 (for simplicity)
   5. Open Command Prompt
      1. Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt
      2. Or Hit: Win Key+R and then type in cmd
   1. Navigate to the location where you saved the Service Pack File.
   2. Type in:
      1. SPINSTALL.exe /i:C:\work_folder\
      2. SPINSTALL.exe is service pack installation file and
      3. C:\work_folder\ is location where you copied contents of CD (work folder)
      4. 
   1. A bunch of dialog boxes will appear and just hit next for each of them and then it will say something like integration finished.
   2. Then download a Setup Boot Sector (or extract the one in your CD) and use it to burn another CD with the contents of your work folder.
2. Automated (Easier)
   1. Get and install:
      1. Nlite (for XP and lower)
      2. Vlite (for Vista) Win7 also reportedly works with Vlite
      3. 7lite (Coming soon for Wn7)
      4. Google for the program you need and install it
   1. Follow the wizard-like steps it goes through. follow the wizard-like steps it goes through. (I think It’s different between vLite and nLite…)
   2. Here are steps for nLite (XP): (vLite for Vista will be similar)
   3. Wizard – Step 1
      1. 
   1. Wizard – Step 2
      1. Pick your CD Drive on this screen then pick your work folder (to copy CD’s contents to it)
   1. Wizard -Step 3
      1. A screen may come up … talking about sessions and stuff like that – ignore it and proceed.
   1. Choose Service Pack and ISO (or CD… something like that) from the list of things to do.
      1. 
   1. Wizard – Step 4
      1. Show it the location of your Service Pack Installation file.
         1. 
      1. Follow onscreen dialogs.
      2. Keep hitting until you get to the location to make the ISO (or burn it)
         1. 
      1. Make the ISO or Burn it to CD
         1. Burn
            1. 
         1. ISO
            1. 
      1. This program makes it automatically bootable.
